May Flowers

There have been so many flowers this March/April/May, and I’ve been busy keeping them sort of tamed and forgotten to take pictures. I had some from before they took over though, so here those are. I’m planning to take out the last of the sweet peas today (there were a lot and they smelled amazing). Then I’ll fill in a few patches of foxtail grasses with some new rye seed. We will see how it grows.
I’m loving the combination of my Zwartkop aeonium with my Salvia Apiana, black and white. Sprinkling the anemones throughout the strawberry patch for more interest was a miss to me, they are too tall I think, and looked a bit random.

We did a hike one Saturday that my husband was working to the Legion of Honor art museum from a parking lot near the Sutro Baths in Lands End park. We loved seeing the ocean from that distinct perspective. We also heard a Pacific Wren, and got to add it to our Merlin Bird ID life list. The art at the end in the museum made the hike feel like a treasure hunt.

These were meant to be a before and after, but I only took the before. After taking out all the carrots, parsley, and cilantro I went straight from gardening to food prep.

We went to Rodeo Beach over spring break with some friends. We made it to the Marine Mammal Center which is right there too and has been on my list for a long time. It was so fun to visit. I love learning more about how plants, animals, and environments interact.

Found this beautiful insect on a sweet pea bloom.

I went to a nature journaling workshop at the Nature Center in Fairfield. It was a joy. My main takeaway was to get better at adding metadata.

I planted some flowers for my parents when I was in Utah for my Grandma’s funeral.

This was a project from a book to do a rubbing of a place you like to stand. It was fun. I added some rolly pollies afterwards.
